Valley of Flowers

The Valley of Flowers is located in the middle of the Himalayan range of Uttarakhand, at an altitude of about 10540 meters above sea level. Valley of flowers situated in the valley of the river Alaknanda and Laxman.  This richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, red fox, and blue sheep. Birds found in the park include Himalayan monal pheasant and other high altitude birds. At 3352 to 3658 meters above sea level, the gentle landscape of the Valley of Flowers National Park complements the rugged mountain wilderness of Nanda Devi National Park to the east.

It has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1982

Geography of the valley of flowers:-

This valley of flowers located in northern Chamoli and Pithoragarh and it is a part of Nanda Devi National Park. Total cover area of flower valley 8750Sqm.

History of Valley of Flowers 

It was discovered to the world in 1931 by the famous mountaineer Frenk Smith. He wrote a book on this delightful site called Valley of Flowers.

The attraction of valley of flowers:-

There are 520 species of flowers blooming in the Valley of Flowers, which remain a center of attraction for tourists around the world.

Best time to Traveling to the valley of flowers:- 

the valley of flowers opens from the beginning of June to the beginning of October. So the best time to traveling valley of flowers is the month of July to August.

How to reach the valley of flowers:- 

Dehradun to 294 km Joshimath approx 10 hrs drive from Dehradun. Then

Joshimath to 1hrs. drive to Govind ghat then approx 13 km tracking then you reach to village Ghangharia. 

Entry fee of the valley of flowers:-

Entry fee of the valley flowers for Indian visiter 150 INR  3 days pass. After 3 days 50 INR each additional day

And for foreigners 650 INR. After 3 days 250 INR each additional day

Important to known Plastics item not allowed inside the valley so don't carry plastics bag, bottle, etc.
